Justice
Justice, simply defined as the administration or maintenance of what is just by law. If a person is punished with befitting punishment for the crime he did, then the victim of his crime or crimes is said to have received justice.
The idea of justice
But where does this idea of justice come from? If we think deeply the virtue of justice is way more entangled with our morales than we superficially think about it. What is the idea of justice for a girl who was raped? Is it a death sentence for the culprit or life imprisonment? Will she ever be satisfied with that after the suffering he gave her? What is the idea of justice for a saint? Is it punishing the culprit or forgiving him? If a mother who may now be a guest for few days, is showered with attention full of ignorance and insults or ignorance, then only she knows what justice can be shown towards motherhood. Thus, sense of justice of one may vary from others. What one might see as justice to him the other might not regard it as justice if he were in the same situation. So in reality no other person can really decide the justice for the one who is in need.
The Law
Our law that judges people, basically makes use of the overall morales of our society to judge a person. So we are basically judged by the society. But, what if our societies were to change? For instace if we live in a society full of murderers or apathetic people, the punishment for even the smallest crimes might be death because the people won’t feel any sympathy towards you. Thus it is the society that judges us and the judicial body makes laws according to the average morales of the society and imposes them upon the people. But the greater question is, who is to judge the society? There is absolutely no authority to judge society, so its ok to feel unique, its ok to think differently and its ok to believe that at times whats wrong is this world and not us.
